Privacy policy
Bazar Assistant · last updated 16 August 2026
Bazar Assistant is a shopping list and expense tracker. This policy explains what it stores, what leaves your phone, and how to stop the parts you do not want.
Your shopping list stays on your phone
Item names, quantities, prices, categories and the dates you added or bought things are stored in a database on your device. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server that receives your list.
That data leaves your phone only when you choose to send it:
- Share list — you pick the app it goes to, and what happens next is that app's business.
- Export — writes a CSV file and hands it to whichever app you choose.
- Send feedback — opens your own email app with a message you can read and edit before sending. It includes the app version, your Android version and your phone model, so a problem can be reproduced. It contains nothing from your shopping list.
- Android Auto Backup — if backup is on in your Android settings, your shopping list database is included in your device backup to your own Google Drive. That backup belongs to you and is governed by Google's terms, not ours. You can turn it off in Android's system settings.
What is collected automatically
| What | Why | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous usage counts — how often items are added, ticked off, and lists finished; which features are used; whether ads are enabled | To tell whether changes to the app make it better or worse to use | Google (Firebase Analytics) |
| Crash diagnostics — the error, your Android version, device model and app version | To find and fix crashes | Google (Firebase Crashlytics) |
| Advertising ID and standard ad request data | To show ads on the report screens | Google (AdMob) |
Usage data never includes what you buy. No item names, no prices, no totals,
no dates and no text you have typed are sent anywhere. The events are counts and short fixed
labels such as item_added. A shopping list is a detailed picture of a household's
income and diet, and none of that is needed to know whether the app is working.
Ads
Ads appear on the report screens only. Your shopping list, the add-item screen and the price fields are, and will remain, ad-free.
Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may use your device's advertising ID to select them. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland you are asked for consent before any ad is requested, and you can change that choice at any time from Menu → Privacy → Ad privacy options. Google's own explanation of how it uses data in its products is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings, under Privacy → Ads.
Turning things off
- Usage data — Menu → Privacy, and untick “Help improve the app”. This takes effect immediately.
- Ad personalisation — Menu → Privacy → Ad privacy options, where that option applies to you.
- Everything — uninstalling removes the app and its database from your phone. Nothing is kept on our side, because nothing was sent there.
Deleting your data
Your shopping list is on your device. Deleting an item removes it, and items you delete are permanently erased after 30 days. Uninstalling the app deletes the whole database. If you have an Android backup, remove it from your Google account's backup settings.
Usage and crash data is anonymous and not linked to an account, so it cannot be looked up or removed individually. Turning off usage data stops any more being collected.
Children
This app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
